Motivation Through Inspiration – by Jen B.

Inspiration comes in many forms. As I am about to finish my first week of my second month of boot camp (it’s that good!), I noticed something today as I was getting dressed. When I buckled my belt, I needed to buckle it in one hole. My inspiration today was noticing my waistline is a little smaller.

tight_beltAs I mentioned before, I am refusing to hop on the scale and I haven’t been measuring myself (although I probably should at least do that). I have simply been focusing on making it to bootcamp three times a week and making better food choices.

This month has been challenging. I moved into our new home and picked up a new client the weekend before my first day of boot camp. So I have been making an effort to keep up my normal schedule, fit in my new client, unpack, reorganize, show up to boot camp, and make better choices in my diet. In the beginning, it was difficult figuring how I could fit everything in while all of my belongings were in disarray. The first week of class I was tired and sore from the workout, but I stuck it out.

During the third week, a classmate showed up with a plastic air cast on her leg. She had injured her ankle the night before, but decided to show up to boot camp anyway. Instead of focusing on her injury and what she couldn’t do, she came anyway and focused on her strengths. While we did squats, she did curls. I am not sure if she knows it, but she was a huge inspiration to me in my momentary moving/reorganizing my life chaos.

Yesterday morning, as my 5:45 alarm went off. I struggled to get out of bed, I had worked late the night before and didn’t crawl into bed until way after midnight. Then, I thought of the girl who inspired me last week, got dressed, and went to boot camp. Within 15 minutes of walking through the door, I was awake, laughing and motivated to kick off the day.

Changing your lifestyle to lose weight should be fun, easy & enjoyable!

So why is NDBC different from all the other boot camps around? The creator of NDBC strongly believes that being healthy or becoming healthier should be something that is ENJOYABLE, FUN, HAPPY & SHOULD FEEL GOOD! Let’s throw out all the old rules of counting calories, killing yourself in the gym, 3 sets of this, 20 reps of that, 1 minute rest (BORING!) low-fat this, no-fat that, body fat percentages, fad diets & restricting yourself from the foods that you want, & no good supplements & B.S. food systems that TRULLY do you more harm than good (if you don’t believe me LET’S TALK!)

Here is what’s being said about The North Dallas Boot Camp

I feel alive again! – Monetta J., McKinney, TX

I absolutely ENJOYED IT!  That’s exactly what I needed! – Kelly P., Flower Mound, TX.

The instructors are positive, motivating & nice!  Mario really understands because he’s been there, thank you! – Central Life Sciences, Dallas, TX

There is more to the workouts than just doing it. I feel like I am constantly learning something new and challenging my mind. I always feel AWESOME when I leave class. – Gina R., Dallas, TX

I feel stronger, stand up taller, feel healthier, and love it when I can do something that I have never done before! – Susan M., Dallas, TX

I invite ANYONE to come & participate in a class FOR FREE during any scheduled session! You can see the schedule here, or if you have any questions you can contact NDBC here. REAL eating, REAL movements & REAL thinking is what NDBC believes to be a great way to REAL health & REAL quality living!

I’m a “FOODIE” – Apparently

Foodie

a REAL foodie: loves food that provides quality nutrition & quality of life!

This past weekend I was telling some friends about my volunteer work at The Movement Dallas, I help every Saturday morning with the organic co-op that The Movement has started.  The co-op provides communities in Dallas with literally some of best QUALITY & NUTRITIOUS foods that you can find locally!

One of my buddies was asking me about the foods that I eat, how I prepare my food, where I do my grocery shopping & places that I like to eat out at, when I do.  “You’re a foodie!” he says….

A FOODIE:

  • The dictionary defines a foodie as “someone who has an ardent or refined interest in food.” In previous decades, words like “epicure” or “gourmet” were used to apply to the same type of person. The words are out of favor now, and bring to mind stodgy, snobbish people who are only willing to consider a restaurant that has truffled pate on the menu.

I will tell you this… I love food & I eat it to live (rather than live to eat.)  REAL food & great quality has literally helped me lose 84 pounds, & has given me the opportunity to do some very great things with food & the education of great food quality.  I like to consider myself a different kind of “foodie” (if that’s what others would like to call me) not a snob or person who has to eat at nice places… but a person who appreciates REAL QUALITY food & what it does for me. I have fun with it, I create crazy & tasty food combos & I take pics of my food too! Hahaha… it’s a blast.  So yeah, I guess that makes me a foodie!!!!

I Want to Work For Full Quiver Farms!

Filed Under (Nutrition, Real Eating, Real Living, The North Dallas Boot Camp) by Mario on 16-08-2009

Full Quiver Farms is a local farm that produces quality uspasturized dairy products, REAL farm fresh eggs &

other quality 100% REAL foods for local Dallas co-ops & other all natural stores here in the DFW area.

When a person is able to speak about an experience & is able to create a feel for what may be, true fun, true passion true “love for the job”, they in a sense “paint you a picture with words” & make you laugh just a little… I usually consider that a pretty cool experience.

In the journey of creating NDBC &  learning SO MANY things in the that time, my experiences have  truly been so.  I could write you a few lines of my Full Quiver Farm experience & tell you all about picking up for the co-op… but I would rather show you a few pictures!  So much easier!  Enjoy!

Food Labels: “Have You Ever Wondered…?”

Have you ever wondered what is REALLY in the box or bag of food that you are buying from  your “local” grocery store?  Ever wondered what your favorite restaurant has in the back of the kitchen that they are using to prepare your food (& how it’s ALWAYS available & ALWAYS  the same?) Ever wondered what was REALLY on the “guiltless menu” on your favorite “neighborhood” restaurant that has a location in almost every major city in the U.S.?  Have you ever wondered or EVEN thought about what it means to claim to be “fat free”, “lowers cholesterol”, “cholesterol free”, “sugar free”, “calorie free”, “all natural”, “heart healthy” or any other ridiculous claims t

How POWERFUL are the PEOPLE who provide me with FOOD, really are?

How POWERFUL are the PEOPLE who provide me with FOOD, really are?

hat multi-corporation giants claim to be?  Have you ever stopped & asked the questions, WHY & HOW multi-corporation giants became giants? Here is some simple truth (I want to clarify that it’s not the whole truth) THEY WILL PRINT & SAY WHAT EVER THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH, IF IT MEANS THAT THE CONSUMER (YOU) IS GOING TO BUY IT!  They will make the packaging as “pretty” & marketable as possible, they will pay millions of dollars for campaigns that make them billions in return, then they will contribute even more millions to policy makers that allow them to produce “all natural fat free FOOD” products that are made from synthetic chemicals, genetically modified organisms (GMO’s), artificial flavors, preservatives, hydrogenated oils & even propellants!  If you have ever wondered… here is a link that you might want to checkout. Even if this link is total B.S… have you ever wondered?

For information on what you can do to stop wondering & KNOW, you can contact NDBC for R.E.A.L education (Real Eating And Living.) Or you can check out any of the links under “Resources & Favorites.”
